China and Serbia, enjoying growing trade and investment ties in recent years, on Monday pledged to further expand bilateral economic cooperation in the years ahead.

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Chief Economist Erik Berglof said on June 20 that Serbia was coming out of the economic crisis, but that a high unemployment rate and the improvement of employment conditions were the main challenges that required resolving.

"President Obama's National Export Initiative (NEI) is a proactive approach taken by the President to double exports from the United States to overseas markets over the next five years,"explained Mr Harker, Commercial Attache of the Embassy of the United States of America,,adding that it is planned to actively include Serbia in this strategy.

Speaking at the promotion held at the Privrednik business club, head of the economic department at the British Embassy in Belgrade Alex Brooks said that the goal of the organization is improving the business environment in Serbia and the relations between British and Serbian companies.

Last year's foreign trade exchange between Serbia and Israel amounted to about USD 35 million, a situation which could be significantly improved, Secretary of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Board for International Economic Relations Olivera Kiro said Thursday.
